What is Arabic

Arabic is an old Semitic Language spoken originally in the Arabic Peninsula. And now it is the mother tongue of nations living in the Middle East and North Africa. Semitic languages are a Group of Ancient Languages originated mainly in the Middle East, and they include Aramaic, Hebrew, Phoenician, Syriac, and Ugaritic.
It is said that the first speaker of Arabic was Ismael who was born around 4000 years ago in Mecca. He is the son of Abraham – The forefather of Abrahamic Religions – and an Egyptian mother called Hagar (a highly regarded mother figure in Arab history). And so, he is a descendant of the two Great Civilisations: Egypt and Mesopotamia.

There are many words that exist in English largely today that descended from Arabic, like Algebra, Algorithms, Alcohol, Banana, Chemistry, Coffee , Jar, Sofa, Sugar, Tariff, and much more. These words transferred mainly through the influence of Andalusia in the Middle Ages, a very advanced Civilization in all fields of Science and Art, which provided a bases of our modern-day Civilization.

Why Learn Arabic?

Arabic is the official language of 26 Countries. The Fifth most spoken in the World, and one of the official languages of the United Nations. It is the mother tongue of over 400 Million living in the Arab world and the Religious Language of over 2 Billion Muslims who read the Quran, the most authentic Arabic text that passed on to us unchanged since the 6th Century, as it is also wholly memorised by thousands of people.

  • Understanding the Quran: A book that Muslims believe to have descended from God through Prophet Mohammad. The Arabic language is considered a great carrier for this message through its characteristics. Therefore, understanding it directly through its original language is of high importance to the Learner. The Quran is also used for spiritual healing through sound recitation in Arabic.

The Arab Word consist 22 countries. Located in Western Asia, North Africa, the Horn of Africa and the Comoros Islands, off the Cost of East Africa. The Region extends from the Atlantic Ocean in the West, to the Arabian Sea in the East. And from the Mediterranean Ocean in the North, to the Indian Ocean in the South East. Countries can be divided into three Main Regions according to their common history, similar Dialect and Culture.
